Ontario Energy Board Notice To Customers of Tillsonburg Hydro - Rate Changes

Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. has applied to adjust the rates it charges for the distribution of electricity.

Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. has applied to the Ontario Energy Board to change its rates in a way that would decrease the amount it charges for distributing electricity by approximately $0.03 each month for a typical residential customer that uses 800kWh of electricity per month starting on May 1, 2016. Other customers, including businesses, may be affected as well.

Employment Opportunity Available - Finance Regulatory Affairs Manager

Reporting to Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Tillsonburg, the Finance Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for managing the Corporation’s utility related regulatory programs and activities to ensure compliance with requirements and deadlines established by OEB, OPA, EDA, IESO and others. This position is also responsible for providing leadership with a customer service focus to the Corporation on all regulatory matters and coordinating activities and responses with Operations Regulatory Affairs Officer.

The ideal candidate shall have a minimum of three years regulatory or related experience in a regulatory analysts, utility or customer service environment., as well as be graduate from a recognized university or college in business administration, commerce, accounting or applicable discipline, and hold an accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA).

The position offers a comprehensive benefit package including Health, Dental, Life and AD&D and OMERS.   The salary range is $76,856 to $93,100 based on a 40 hour week.

Tillsonburg Hydro names new CEO/General Manager

announcement iconTillsonburg, ON -Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. (THI) Board Chair Phillip Esseltine announced today the appointment of Mark Rosehart to the position of Chief Executive Office/General Manager of Tillsonburg Hydro Inc., effective April 1, 2015.

Rosehart most recently held the position of Director, Utility Support Services and Energy Management at London Hydro Inc. Rosehart has also been active in the electrical distribution sector as a consultant, and has expertise in the areas of regulatory compliance, energy and data management and strategic planning.

Rosehart’s key responsibility at THI will be leading the utility through change and issues management in order to ensure the corporation meets its regulatory obligations, while providing quality service to its customers.

THI is the distributor of electrical power to approximately 6,600 customers in the Town of Tillsonburg. The company was formed in October 2000 and is wholly owned by the Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg.

THI Smart Meter Incident News Update

Hydro Smart MeterOn March 8, 2015 at 5:15pm Tillsonburg Hydro Inc (THI) staff responded to a call for a structure fire at 147 Lisgar Ave. Upon arrival, THI staff discovered the fire to be electrical and disconnected the hydro service and meter. Repairs to the damaged meter base were completed and THI was called back to reinstall a meter at 12:20am. Repairs were made and a meter installed under authorization from the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).


This incident was not related to the smart meter recall issued earlier this year.

THI meters not affected by ESA Bulletin

Hydro Smart meter ImageOn January 22, 2015 the Electrical Safety Authority announced it had directed Ontario’s electrical utilities (local distribution companies) to replace and discontinue use of a specific model of electrical meter: the Sensus 3.2 with remote disconnect.

 

There are only 5,400 of these meters reported in use in Ontario which is less than one per cent of the 4.8 million meters in Ontario.

 

Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. customers do not have the model of meters that are covered by ESA’s announcement.

 

ESA does not have reason or evidence at this time to be concerned about other meters in Ontario.
