Setting your computer to ‘sleep’ or hibernate mode instead of using a screen saver can help you use less electricity during periods of inactivity. Or better yet, make it a habit to turn all devices off when you’re finished with them—including game consoles and TVs.
The OEB is alerting Ontarians to a possible telephone scam. The OEB has received reports that individuals, claiming to be affiliated with the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP), were calling to request access into consumers’ homes. Rosehart most recently held the position of Director, Utility Support Services and Energy Management at London Hydro Inc. Rosehart has also been active in the electrical distribution sector as a consultant, and has expertise in the areas of regulatory compliance, energy and data management and strategic planning.
Rosehart’s key responsibility at THI will be leading the utility through change and issues management in order to ensure the corporation meets its regulatory obligations, while providing quality service to its customers.
THI is the distributor of electrical power to approximately 6,600 customers in the Town of Tillsonburg. The company was formed in October 2000 and is wholly owned by the Corporation of the Town of Tillsonburg.
On March 8, 2015 at 5:15pm Tillsonburg Hydro Inc (THI) staff responded to a call for a structure fire at 147 Lisgar Ave. Upon arrival, THI staff discovered the fire to be electrical and disconnected the hydro service and meter. Repairs to the damaged meter base were completed and THI was called back to reinstall a meter at 12:20am. Repairs were made and a meter installed under authorization from the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).
This incident was not related to the smart meter recall issued earlier this year.
On January 22, 2015 the Electrical Safety Authority announced it had directed Ontario’s electrical utilities (local distribution companies) to replace and discontinue use of a specific model of electrical meter: the Sensus 3.2 with remote disconnect.
There are only 5,400 of these meters reported in use in Ontario which is less than one per cent of the 4.8 million meters in Ontario.
Tillsonburg Hydro Inc. customers do not have the model of meters that are covered by ESA’s announcement.
ESA does not have reason or evidence at this time to be concerned about other meters in Ontario.

It’s winter storm season and that means Tillsonburg Hydro customers may experience occasional hydro interruptions due to heavy snow, ice and other weather related events. While portable generators can help you keep the lights on, they can also be dangerous if not used properly.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and contact a qualified electrician or electrical inspector if you have questions.
